Rev. Dr. Joseph Henry
Dr. Joseph Henry was born in Léogâne, Haiti, a town rich in culture, art, music, and religious heritage. Growing up in a Christian environment, Joseph was introduced to the faith from an early age. He faithfully attended Sunday school and worship services with his family and community.
At the age of thirteen, Joseph experienced a defining moment in his spiritual journey. He felt the Lord calling him, and he made the decision to give his life to Jesus Christ. That commitment became the foundation of his faith and would continue to guide him throughout his life.
Before leaving Haiti to come to the United States, Joseph had a conversation with one of his cousins, who asked him, “How long are you going to stay in America?”
Joseph answered, “Two years.”
Looking back, Joseph recognizes how different God’s plan was from his own. The words of Proverbs 16:9 came to mind:
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.”
Joseph had planned to return to Haiti after two years, but the Lord had a different purpose for his life. What began as a temporary stay became a journey of faith, service, and ministry. Today, Joseph is deeply grateful that God directed his steps and established a path far beyond what he had originally imagined.
After arriving in the United States, Joseph was introduced to Pilgrim Wesleyan Church of Brooklyn through his cousins, Anatin and Victor Paul. He began attending worship services under the leadership of Rev. Pierre Ferdinand.
That connection marked an important chapter in Joseph’s spiritual journey and became part of the foundation for his continued growth, service, and calling in ministry.
